It was
in 7th grade I discovered Def Leppard's Hysteria album which changed
my life forever. I was into music before that, but had grown
up listening to 50's music because that's all my parents listened
too. One Easter I got Michael Jackson's Thriller album which I
played all the time and still have today. I then bought
Prince's Purple Rain Album which got played daily for a long time
also. The wild guitar riffs on that album caught my ear.
But nothing got my attention like the rock music I heard through my
radio on station 94Z back in the 80s. I bought Def Leppard's
Hysteria which was my first cassette tape I do believe. Then I
bought one of the greatest rock albums of all time, Guns N' Roses
Appetite for Destruction. I wore those two tapes out!
They also led me to buy more and more 80s rock tapes of some of the
bands whose logos you see here. I dreamed of being a rock star
someday as alot of kids do I guess. When I was 17 I went to a
friends house to
hang out for a while. He played bass and his brother had a
drum set. There was a young guy over there playing around on
an electric guitar and I couldn't get enough of it. I learned
a couple of songs that night which amazed me. My friend
happened to have an electric guitar (A turquoise Peavey Falcon) and
amp for sale at the time. I went home, told my parents all
about what happened and the next day I went and bought the guitar
combo. I went back to my friends house alot to learn my chords
and new songs. It all came easy to me and I eventually
graduated to a bigger amp and a sweet Ibanez guitar. The rest
they say.....is history! |
